liberty medical is a worthless company

when i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, i was referred to a diabetic education place in the hospital, where i got my meter and we talked about my diet and changes i’d be making and how to use the stabby thing that makes me bleed all over little tiny magical cardboard sticks called “testing strips”. the lady was very nice and understanding about my apprehension over having to stick my finger 4 times a day. she then told me i’d be getting my stuff though liberty medical, gave me some starter test strips and i was on my way.

so here i was thinking this will be easy, once i get used to pricking my finger, i’ll just do this crap until august, have vincent, and be done with the whole thing. except liberty medical has dragged ass SINCE my diagnosis. i received a phone call to get my initial information, medicaid info, junk like that. and they told me my 30 days supply of testing strips would be on its way to me.

2 weeks passed, not a damn sign of those testing strips. i had a checkup appointment with the diabetes lady, she gave me more sample canisters (but those things don’t last long when you are checking 4 times a day!) i kept in touch with her via email after that, because she was trying to get in touch with a field agent to have something done about my situation.

liberty medical called me to confirm my information again… and assure me once more that my testing strips were on the way. yeah… ok…the girl this time tells me that she’ll see about having a field agent send me a few cans of testing strips like i was getting from the diabetic education place at the hospital.

another week passes, no testing strips.

a girl from liberty medical calls and informs me that the doctor i saw that day i was diagnosed (my ob/gyn rotates doctors) was no longer with the practice and she needed a new contact for the practice so she could get an order for my strips. while i am glad that doctor is gone (he was honestly a jerk to me and i was not happy with him). so i gave her the name of the head of the practice, she said she would let someone know and hung up on me.

still no testing strips…

i got another call from liberty medical and by this time i am just exhausted with dealing with these people. i have phone anxiety as it is, and having to talk to random call center workers (some of which were not very good at english so i could not understand what they were saying) is not something i enjoy. this girl tells me that they are still waiting on the doctor to send in an order for my testing strips. she gives me a fax number and tells me to talk to my doctor’s office.

so i call my doctor’s office and speak to a very nice lady who tries to work with me on this situation, she contacts liberty medical herself, and they tell her they’re sending her a fax, but she never got one. she was kind enough to call me back and let me know that she hasn’t been able to get their fax and it was closing time.

so finally a few days ago those testing strips from the field agent show up in the mail, and that’s what i’ve been using this week, they only sent 3 canisters, i will be out again tomorrow. i have another doctor appointment on tuesday and i’m going to see if i can get down to the bottom of this. but really… liberty medical is worthless. i am so glad i am not dealing with them for something more important like insulin! and i’m not the only person with complaints. if you go to the liberty medical facebook page, there are TONS of comments where people are having the same problem not receiving their important medical supplies. i’m hoping that i can use some other service to get this stuff taken care of. it seems like by the time i get these testing strips i’ll already have given birth!

Wow. That sounds so incredibly frustrating and dangerous. Diabetes isn’t something to mess with and people rely on these products. Ugh.

Is there another medical company you can go through instead of liberty? That place sounds horrible. The customer service is worthless. Yuck. I hope you can finally get down to the bottom of the problem.
