so i’ve been writing about the state of our nursery (which is still not finished) and i’ve noticed.. i keep mentioning “the coffin” but i’ve never really explained what exactly that is…
this, is ben’s coffin. when we were teenagers he took a bunch of woodshop classes because he wanted to be a carpenter. well for his exam one year he was supposed to make something from scratch so he made this box… the school thought it was a quilt trunk for his mom, but he and i knew the truth… this box was measured and made to fit him, and me back when we were skinny little teenagers. and we SLEPT in it until we broke up, and he kept sleeping in it until just a few years ago, when he finally was too big to fit in it anymore. he even had a gold plaque made for it with his name on it (which i have obscured with the flash). we were nerdy goth kids all the way…
both of us have gained a lot of weight since we were teens, so yeah.. .we can’t fit in it separately, let alone together, but its still here.. being used as kind of a storage closet. the only problem now is that its currently in our baby’s room! we are trying to figure out if we want to put it in storage… or find a place for it in the living room.
so yeah.. nothing really fancy but that’s the story of the coffin!

Likes it and the story behind
Haha, I love that nobody at the school really figured out what it was! It’s a pretty nice bit of wood work
